St. Peter’s community engagement and outreach is longstanding. Our celebrated legacy includes our first two Rectors, Fr. A. Fraser MacCammond, “Father Mac”, and Bishop Harry B. Scott III, “Father Scott”. The former was our founding pastor, the latter our long-term and venerable one, who helped to found “MCEAP” – Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program. St. Peter’s interaction with our neighbors is guided by this legacy and directed, we pray, by the Lord Jesus.
In the past, the local churches directed practically all of the charitable works in the community, led by the deacons and almoners. This is no longer largely the case, nor practically possible. Instead, different congregations and individuals have, over the past decades, come together to support non-profit endeavors which can, through a combinations of volunteers and, sometimes, a small core of paid professionals, provide the holistic care required for those in need.
